Twins capture Babe Ruth championship title

The Reedley Babe Ruth End of Season tournament took place on June 15th as the top four teams competed to secure their spots in the championship round. The four teams playing that day were the Twins, Pirates, White Sox, and the Giants. The first playoff game of the day were the first seed, the Twins, and the fourth seed, the Giants. The Twins beat the Giants 11-1. The second playoff game were the third seed team, the White Sox, and the second seed, the Pirates. The White Sox upset the Pirates with a final score of 4-0.

On June 15, Twins defeated the White Sox in the championship game. White Sox’s Sergio Marquez had two at bats, with a walk, stolen base and struck out once. Alfredo Ocejo had three at bats, with a hit, a strike out, and a stolen base. Oscar Garza also had three at bats, one hit, and a strikeout. Isaiah Silva had three at bats, with one hit and a struck out. Jesus Rosas had three at bats, with one hit, and struck out once. Abel Urbieta had three at bats and struck out three times. Luis Serna had two at bats and struck out twice. Andrew Rodriguez had had two at bats and struck out once. Brandon Baker had one at bat. And Matthew Azua had two at bats and struck out twice.


The White Sox had a total of 24 at bats, 1 run, 4 hits, 1 runs batted in and 13 strike outs. Sergio Marquez Jr. pitched for the game. Marquez had a total pitch count of 78 with 53 strikes.

Twins’ Aeneas Vargas had four at bats, scored two runs and had two hits. Ryan Garcia had four at bats, score one run and one hit. Will Gagnon had three at bats and one hit. Dustin Wang had three at bats, one hit, and struck out once. Darren Ortiz had two at bats and one hit. Pierce Delport had three at bats and scored one run. Nathan Garcia had two at bats, scoring one run and striking out once. Sergio Sanchez had three at bats, no runs scored. Fernando Villagomez had two at bats, scoring one run, two hits, and walked once.


The Twins had a total 26 at bats, 6 runs, 8 hits, 5 runs batted in, 1 walk and 2 strike outs. Will Gagnon was the starting pitcher for the Twins with 97 pitches, along with 73 strikes. Aeneas Vargas relieved for Gagnon. Vargas had 3 pitches, 2 of them are strikes.

The final score for the match was White Sox 1 - Twins 6. The White Sox had 4 hits and 2

errors. While The Twins had 8 hits and 2 errors.
